Continuing our series of -est things, here is the SMALLEST.
The smallest** book in the University of Iowa Special Collections is this ultra micro miniature book with text from the Book of Genesis from The Bible. Bottom right you can see all of our ultra micro miniatures, with this tiny tome at the top in its case that allows it to be worn as a necklace.
Utilizing an old WW2 maps magnifier I managed to cobble together a photograph of the text, MacGyver style. The Conservation Department has informed me that their brand new microscope can also be rigged to take photographs, so I may be able to follow up with clearer shots of the text of a few of these soon!

**After publishing this, a colleague pointed out one that was smaller. So, please read this post as “one of the smallest you’ve ever seen!” The same publisher had another one that was smaller but it was boxed in a larger box as part of a set, so I mistook it for a larger book.
